Photographing a Maternity Session among the whimsical among blossoms had been a dream of mine for years! It’s about a 4 hour drive from Malibu to the Fresno Blossom trail, but it was so worth it!
A Session Among the Blossoms
Once I knew I was going to do it, I started researching almond groves near Malibu. The almond groves in Bakersfield are the closest, but I couldn’t find any places online that I felt comfortable going to, because all almond fields are private property. I couldn’t exactly go and scout because Bakersfield is over two hours away from Malibu. That’s when I came across the Fresno Blossom Trail! While none of the fields are public, they are considered a tourist attraction, so it’s typical for people to get out and take pictures on the outskirts of the blossom fields! I sent out a model call on Facebook and Bao responded!
The day of the shoot, my husband, son and I packed up the van and drove over 4 hours to reach the Fresno Blossom Trail! The entire drive, once we hit the Grapevine, we saw miles and miles of blossoms! Unfortunately, we were a bit early in the season so the trees weren’t as full as we would have liked, but there were blossoms, and I was excited! We met Bao at the corner of Academy and Belmont, at the Blossom Trail Cafe (which was closed unfortunately). Bao wore two beautiful dresses for the shoot, which really helped elevate and pop against the beautiful blossoms!
