1. Nursery Reveal
This is such a cute idea to announce your pregnancy to social media! It’s minimal, subtle, and perfect for couples who have a more curated feed.
How to achieve this: Set up your camera outside the nursery so you can frame the crib with the open door. Drape a onesie, sonogram, and other baby items over the rail of the crib.
Also include a few more detail shots of other baby décor and the sonogram.
Add a touch of Malibu by decorating your nursery with ocean or coastal themes.
2. Super Chic Café and Custom Newspaper
Malibu is home to some of the trendiest cafes, making them the perfect setting for an effortlessly cool pregnancy announcement.
Personally, I think the best Café’s for this type of announcement would either be Alfred’s Coffee in Malibu or Farm Café at the end of the pier!
How to achieve this: You can purchase a Canva Template from this Etsy creator and print out your “newspaper” at places like Office Depot, Staples, or even CVS. Once your newspaper is ready, collect other traditional pregnancy announcement items such as the sonogram, baby shoes, and maybe a onesie!

3. Include your Fur Baby
Your four-legged friend is an important part of your family, so why not let them help announce the big news? Dress your pup in a cute bandana that says, "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" and capture a photo on Malibu Beach with the waves in the background.
How to achieve this: Visit Malibu’s only dog friendly beach, Leo Carrillo North Beach, with your camera and pregnancy announcement items! Make sure you bring a friend or family member with you so you and your partner can take some couples photos without your fur baby.
4. Include Older Siblings
If you have children already, Malibu offers countless picture-perfect locations to capture their excitement about becoming big siblings.
Have them write "Big Bro" or "Big Sis" in the sand, or photograph them holding a baby-sized swimsuit next to their own.
For a playful twist, capture them building a sandcastle with space for "one more" or holding a sign saying "Our family's growing by two feet!".
5. Grab a Surfboard!
Embrace Malibu's surf culture with a pregnancy announcement featuring a surfboard.
Position three surfboards in a row—one for each parent and a tiny one for baby—in the sand at sunset.
Or write your due date in the sand next to a surfboard with tiny baby shoes perched on top.
How to achieve this: Bring your boards down the the beach, along with other pregnancy announcement items, and have fun. If you’re not a local but still want to take part in this trend, rent a board from Drill Surf & Skate Shop or Sea N Soul.
The easiest beaches for this will most likely be Zuma or Westward Beach, that way you won’t have to haul the boards down any flights of stairs.
Best Time to Announce Your Pregnancy?
Most parents-to-be announce their pregnancy after the first trimester (12 weeks), but ultimately, it’s a personal choice!
Many couples prefer to wait until they’ve had their first ultrasound or genetic screening to ensure a healthy pregnancy before sharing the news.
Others choose to announce earlier, especially if they want to involve close friends and family from the beginning. If you’re looking for a special occasion, holidays, birthdays, or milestone dates can also be great times to make your announcement even more memorable.
Some couples choose to wait much later before announcing their pregnancy to social media!
That’s personally what I did! I waited until I was 7 months pregnant to announce my pregnancy to Facebook and Instagram, but I told my close friends and family before the 12 week mark.
The key is to do what feels right for you and your journey.
